I am trying to find a source in English on-line for how to make Roman shades. I've never made them before and would like as complete details as possible (i.e. How to measure the window, how that translates into the amount of fabric required, supplies, sterp by step prep and sewing instructions, how to hang them, etc.). I've spent an hour on-line and only found sites that want to sell me Roman shades. Plus I need some help with washing instructions. I will be using a natural fabric (linen, silk or cotton). I plan to prewash the fabric to eliminate shrinkage. Can the shades be washed later?
Any help is gratefully received:)!

try putting "how to make roman shades" into the search box, instead of just "roman shades".
also, go to your local fabric/sewing store. they'll have patterns & the employees will tell you how much fabric you'll need (take them your window measurements).

I just found this site

I haven't tried these directions yet, but I'm planning to start on my blind this week. I'll let you know if it's awful! :)
