I was supposed to have a sketch of exactly where my sewer line exits the cellar but I really want it to exit the cellar lower so to have ability to put a bath into the cellar without a pump-system. I'm trying to do my homework before I speak with them. This is a standard ranch with a full cellar.
- Do they usually run the new city sewer line low enough to get the right pitch from a residence? ____
- Are there any other details that I should consider before I speak with them? ___
- Do I have legal rights to have a "lower line".
- Can they make me get the connection high because they don't want to go lower? ___
Any input will be helpful. Hope it's not a matter of "all towns and cities are different" and "they run the show". TIA R7

O.K., you don't want to hear this, but..."all cities and towns are different", and they have different local codes, rules and regs.
Normally, the property owner is responsible for their sewer line connection from their home all the way to the street main.
I don't know what the circumstances are that you're dealing with, but your sewer line should be sloped 1/4" per linear foot for gravity drainage.
Does your basement have a floor drain? THAT would be the thing to tie into and come off of, if you can.
A drain line to a septic system is going to be much shallower than the average public sewer line. Can you find out how deep the main line is that you're to tie into? That would be a good place to start for planning.

I called them and they welcomed my request. They will actually send have their guy meet me at the house to discuss a "best plan" for my request.
Do you have thoughts on this : sewer line (leach) is 3ft up the center rear (non street side) wall. There is an inground pool 20ft straight out from there. There is a deck (to the pool) on left side and a bulkhead on the right side. My water feed is centered on the street side wall.
1 - Seems like I just want to get the new line as low as possible (or under foundation?) in the area where the old line currently exits? ___
2 - Do ranches with 9ft foundations have standard sewer through the floor to get to the street?____
3 - Would an owner be wise digging under foundation to get a new sewer line in so have it as low as possible? ____
-*-*- I hope these questions don't seem badgering to you. I really appreciate your knowledge & experience and tried to get you the info you requested.
It all depends on how deep they put the sewer in the street. If it low enough you can use gravity and put the sewer down low so you basement drain will drain. If it is not low enough then you can install an ejector pump an pump the sewage up from the basement.
