I inadvertently pushed the self clean cycle button instead of bake. I've not used this feature before. In a panic I opened the door. Now the door won't close because the latch is sticking out and I can't budge it, interior light won't go off and blinking "lock" light won't go off on the display. Stove is approximately 5 years old. It's a Kenmore electric stove, model #790.95722990. Can someone please help me troubleshoot the problem. I cannot afford an appliance repair service nor can I find the manual that came with the stove. Thank you.

Hi Thewanderer,
Welcome to the DIY Forums.
You might try unplugging the stove for about 20 minutes and see if that will reset the computer within the unit. This may allow the computer to let the latch return to its proper place. If not you may have to replace the latch due to a broken part thats keeping it from returning.
Good luck and post back

Thank you for your suggestion. I actually unplugged the stove for a couple hours, just plugged it back in and it remains the same as it was. I was hoping that would work, the latch still won't budge. I opened the door during the locking process, I wouldn't think I broke anything, but may have. Any other suggestions? Thank you.
