2nd story addition

im having 2 bedrooms built on the 2nd floor where half of the the 2nd floor is finished and the other half was an attic space.there is no floor in the attic space yet.I wanted to know if i could use 2 existing ducts (going to a bathroom and to the hallway)to get heat and air to these 2 bedrooms ,or do I have to tap into the trunk line down in the basement?The other question I have is where can i find the info on the heater and ac system to see if the unit is capable of handling the extra space I need to heat and cool? any help would be useful . thanks!

You could be better off If you put another system up there for the whole top floor. Much better control over the heat and cool.

I worked with someone that built a space between the two floors and put the ductwork in there, attached to a downflow furnace.
