My dw is shutting down after about five minutes of use. The timer still moves on through the other cycles and eventually completes, but the machine just makes a dull hum. I believe the water is still running, due to dripping right after I open it. If I unlock the handle and wait about five minutes, it will turn on again when I lock the handle back, only to stop washing after another five. Also, it will not drain, even if I set the timer to be right before the "drying" mark (I saw that it had worked for other people on the board). If I had to guess, I would think that something is overheating and shutting down. Can someone please help?

1. How old is your Kenmore dw
2. Do you have any idea who made it?*

I can tell you ither the solonoid valve is busted and causing it to fill up to much. Or its this, not enough water and to much soap. I had this happen yesterday accually.

What you can do is turn the knob all the way back to the cycle you left it on and see what happens from there. If nothing seems to work, then call a repairman. It just might be the motor controler frying itself.

* Kemore appliances are made by differnt companys including Whirlpool, frigadare, GE, and others.
