I have a simply constructed dresser with drawers that fit and slide only one the wooden pieces attached each interior side of the dresser. It is always a struggle opening them. Is there anything I can do to make these drawers slide in and out more easily?

You could try sanding them to give more clearance. But first, I would rub some parafin or bar soap on the runners to see if that helps.
