Need a sanity check....this system is 15yrs old. It has worked great until recently. The system still regenerates manually and I believe automatically (not sure how often tho), but doesn't consume much salt anymore and the water level in the salt tank seems really low compared to how it used to be (nearly 3/4 full). The metering valve does still spin when running water. All appears OK with system.

Now, seeing how it is 15 yrs old and to figure this out will take a service call and probable additional repair costs, I figure I may as well replace it rather than spend what may end up being 50% of new cost?

Am I nuts?

Last question - if I replace it, do you suggest retesting water or size something comparable to what I have?

Check the drain line and its flow control left side rear IIRC, it has a number on it and theres a ball in there so don't drop it as you unscrew the cap, and the injector for blockage and the injector screen on the opposite side from the injector and the inside port over to the other side. Any blockages will cause poor brine suction or incomplete regeneration. I'm not one to replace equipment if it can be fixed but... 15 years says the resin probably is needing replacement and the 155 had a 13/16" distributor tube. The 155 is now the 255. Resin and a few parts like the flapper discs and maybe the timer is bust or it would be regenerating on the same schedule it used to so I think replacement would be beter all around especially if it's on the small side and regenerating more than once a week.

BTW, you can buy the parts over the internet and change them yourself.

Thanks for the input Gary...I'll take a quick look at the parts you suggested, but if I don't find an obvious problem there I'll be contacting you for one of the WS-1 controller models you clearly like and your prices for these appear good for those anyway - no sense in me "stabbing in the dark" so I'll go with your recommendation.

I ordered a couple Watersafe WS-425B test kits - hope they work ok to recheck what I have today versus 15 yrs ago. I'll email you the results once I get it - or do your sizing analysis worksheet.
