Heat Pumps and Electric Heating - Inside fan never turning off, outside unit never turning on

Turned on our heat yesterday and the inside fan has continuously ran all day and night, seems to be heating "ok" however I noticed the inside fan has always stayed on but I heard the outside unit "click" on 2 times yesterday but only for 1-2 secs then it shut right back off, it isn't staying on at all .. Please tell me this is something we can repair ourselves, it's the holidays and don't have extra $$ to contriubute to a heat pump.

Sorry to say it can be a small thing are a BIG thing. That click on and off has me. Didnt take any breakers out didnt have to reset high head. Can check for any lose wires in to unit or to the unit Look out for the 220Volt out there. There is a contactor in the outdoor unit. Can see if you can push it in and and everything runs out side if you hold it in.
If you find anything more come back some one can help you. Stay in the same post.

in the end it looks like you will need a tech. do you have a meter? what is the make and model?
