i am interested in putting a finish on an old piece of marble as an easy way to hide some bad scratches a get a shine. If this is possible what would I use. I wanted to avoid repolishing the marble. Also, what are the basic steps to repolish a piece of marble?

Putting any type of clear finish on marble will not hide the scratches..in fact it may accent them.
