Hello. I built my deck with all PT lumber this past late spring. Can someone help me out with a maintenance schedule? I would like to know when to apply sealer (or other material) and what is a good product for the price. I do not think I am planning to stain the deck as I like the natural light wood look. I will assume it to cost a decent amount since it is approx. 380sq ft. Thanks: e3

When I had my deck in Florida (10x48) I cleaned and recoated it every year. Part of the reason was, I used a cheaper sealer. It looked like milk and I first sprayed it due to the fact I had 1/2 inches between my 2x8s for drainage as it rains hard and I also had a pool connected to the deck. I sprayed the edges and then went back with a roller for the top of the boards. I paid $35.00 for 5 gallons. I didn't say it was Premium, but it worked. 9 years and I had no problems. I did make the mistake of not protecting the vinyl siding the first time I did it and it made the first 6 inches above the deck, on the house, look dirty. Took some work to get it off. I used two coats and that took about all the 5 gallons. A lot depends on traffic you have on the surface. Ask where you buy your sealer, they probably get kudos or complaints about different sealers. Good luck.
