I have a 4 year old GE side-by-side refrigerator that is not cooling properly - the lower half of the freezer is freezing, the upper half is probably 50 degrees. The refrigerator side is close to 55 degrees. The basic warranty is 5 years for the sealed compressor system - does this sound like a compressor/refrigerant issue? Any suggestions?

Suggest first checking the thermostatic damper between the freezer and refrigerator sides. Also, check to see if the evaporator coil is frozen up and also make sure the coils underneath the fridge are clean.
