This is a great forum fellow members.

I have aWhirlpool Electric Dryer that turns but will not heat. Model # LEN2000JQ!

After speaking to a customer service at Whirlpool, they suggest I replace the thermal fuse, which I have been able to identify and remove.

While I am pretty handy, I have no idea how to verify if it is "open" or not. They weren't that helpful.

Any help for this novice home appliance repairman will be greatly appreciated. I can't get anyone out here for less than 75.00 and I have to wait until Thursday for our schedules to coincide.

Thanks

test across the points with an ohmmeter. It will read open or infinity. Many dryers have TWO thermal fuses or thermostats. Many are marked NO or NC , meaning 'normally open' and 'normally closed'. They are used in conjunction to switch the heater ON and OFF.
Of course it could be the heater element, dont be deterred by this as most are fairly easy to change.
