I was looking and couldnt find any posts on it so I'll ask it.
I want to know whats the best way to add insulation to my house. On the main floor its a brick wall with 2x2's then plaster over it with nothing inbetween. A friend said they used to put newspapers in there but nothing like that was seen in one hole I made in the wall.

Can I add on another 2x2 and treat it as a 2x4 wall then or ????
Any help is apperciated. :)

lost here ,you sure you just have a brick with 2x2 on them them the plaster??? Is there a like red clay tile with holes in it. Old brick walls where about 13" then the plaster? You could just build new walls inside and put them up, add insulation then drywall. that would give you a good insulation job.

Nah I know what you mean by the red clay tiles though and its not them. Its brick wall then air space then the plaster set off the bricks with 2x2's.

Theres quite a few surprises like that in this house
Would it be worth to take down the plaster and toss up some foam type insulation then drywall? Losing 2" isnt a big deal either.

If you are going to stay in the home Id let it alone and build 2X4 stud walls and put them up right over what you have.
