Dehumidifier help-PLEASE

Hi-
First of all, love the website. You guys are great! I do need help in determining what type of dehumdifier to buy though. I have a small house (don't know size)
5 room, 1 bath!. I noticed black mold (not slimy) on bedroom wall at the bottom near the trim and also have had some on bathroom ceiling. I figure that I need a dehumidifier. Can you tell me what pint size needed? Also, what brands are the best? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Its all in how wet is it there. Look at it this way from the book
moderately damp 18 pints in 24 hr for a home of 1500sq ft

Very damp 22 pints in 24 hr " "


Wet 26 pints in 24 hr " "

They all work about the same Id say just shop around .

If you have mold in the winter it may not be a humidity problem. Even if you have 35% RH at 20F outside you may have condensation in the corners because of poor insulation. In this case you don't need dehumidifier.
Dehumidifiers usually needed only in summer time if RH above 55%

If you have no fan in your bath to remove humid air after shower installing one will help for bath.

For the whole house you definately need dehumidifier. There are a lot of dehumidifiers on the market.
There are two problems with them:
-water from portable dehumidifier should be removed on daily basis or it should have option to be connected to drain system.
-all of them ARE TOO LOUD. Try to find out what is db level before you buy.
