We're installing laminate flooring in a room with a brick fireplace that has a rounded hearth. (The hearth is flat on three sides, but the corners are round in a 1' radius.)
We're looking to lay the laminate attractively around or under the fireplace. We're considering using a powered jamb saw to undercut the fireplace so that the flooring slides under the brick and the expansion space becomes invisible. We're also considering a flexible moulding, but have yet to find one.
Anyone have ideas about this? Your advice is GREATLY appreciated!!

Under cut it. You will be pleased with the finished look.

The most elegant way would be to undercut the stone. I use a Crain 820 undercut saw with a diamond blade. The blade number is cr822. I think it also fits the Crain 812. My supplier does not stock these so I had to go online to get it.

Hi again, all. Just wanted to let you know that we rented a Crain 820 undercut saw from Home Depot yesterday and finished undercutting our fireplace earlier today. I think we should be okay from here out. We've got room for the 1/4" expansion and 1/4" under the fireplace (1/2" total).
If I do say so myself, it looks good!
Thanks for the help!!
