Sanded my living room floor went great tested a couple minwax stains to match color w adjacent rooms put first coat on (floors are oak) and 1st coat looked very close. Put second coat on and it's SO SO much darker and looks terrible. I have REALLY messed up. Any way to lighten the stain? Will I have to sand floor down again? How long would I have to wait? There's poly on the stained floors entrance and dining room that all run together, was hoping to match. Just bought house previous owners had wall to wall in living room so I refinished, it's a nightmare, Anybody with any suggestions, tips or help SO appreciated. THANKYOU!!!

Why did you stain it again, if the first try was right on the money?
Sand it back slowly and it may light as you get the top off.

yeah, try taking it back with a screen but it's probably not going to help.
stains penetrate and the more you put on you're simply concentrating more pigment. i can't say that cutting back would work. you might have to sand it all up and start over.
