I want to redo my basement without spending a fortune. A friend of mine moved into a house where they basically painted the block walls and screwed lattice to the ceiling. It actually looked good and you had access if you needed it- My question is this:
If I were to screw the lattice to the joists- could I box out the ducts with them?? Is there any danger with the wood sitting tight up against the supply duct? I'm thinking more in terms of heat.
Thanks

I am not an expert in this field however I would think that if you could place your hand on a duct, it would not be a fire danger. You could also install drywall inbetween the lattice and duct. watch this post for other soulutions. Good luck.

Well drywall is one of my trades and when I Box out the air ducts (build a bulk head) I try to make it as close to the duct as possible, sometimes even touching the duct and so far none of the house I have build have burnt down :D So I would say the answer to your question is No there is not any danger with the wood sitting tight up against the supply duct.
