I see from the installation information that I found for the AprilAire 600 that the mounting width is 14 7/8" wide. Can someone tell me from first hand knowledge if it is possible to mount this model on a 13 1/2" to 14" plenum opening? You see, the only place that I can mount it on the return plenum in my town house is only 14" wide (corner to corner).
If this is not possible, any recommendations for a model that can be mounted on a 14" wide opening? I am trying to replace a 12yr old drum type with a manual humidistat and would really prefer to replace it with a panel type.
Thanks for any assistance,
Chad
Chad, the actual plenum cutout required is 9 7/8 wide by 12 3/4 tall for the unit itself. Bear in mind the unit is about 1 1/4 bigger in each dimension than shown above (plus another 1 1/2 the supply duct sticks out from that). The directions call for the unit to be mounted to the supply plenum and the 6" round duct to be affixed to the return plenum, though I believe the unit should work fine if you switch the two around. BTW, the unit disassembles easily and the whole thing can be switched left to right to make the 6" supply duct come out the right side. I just installed mine two days ago and it took about 3 hours for the whole job. It was really easy (though I'm not sure the humidistat is functioning properly, see my related post)

Thanks for the information. I'll be ordering the 600 tonight. Wish me luck.
