I am attempting to find a "fix" for discoloration of oak flooring by animal
urine. The wood has darkened to almost black and the smell is also strong.
This is many years of animal abuse located when carpeting overlay was removed. I have tried Bleach and oxalic acid treatment to no avail. Aparently a previous owner refinished the flooring with a hand held sander and applied a heavy coat of urethane over the top so it has been trapped inside for a long time. The sopts are quite large and would require removal of a pproximately 4x8' section of flooring I cannot find to replace anyway.
Thank you for all your help!

If it's been sealed in for a long time, chances are there's probably rotted wood by now.

I'm going to move this thread into the wood flooring forum as well, so the pros there can have some input too.
