I'm looking for ideas on how to change a "champagne" color laminated bedroom set, short of tearing off the laminated sheets.(Partical board underneath and to much work for the dressers). I have a 1/2 circle headboard and 2 dressers, 1 tall, 1 long with a mirror. Need a change without spending alot of money! Thanks for any imput!

Almost anything can be painted with the proper preparation. For your situation, this would mean sanding the entire piece, including the laminate, to rough up the surface for a new finish to adhere.

Prime the piece completely, two coats, sanding lightly after each to remove the 'nubbies'.

I suggest in BIN or KILZ as a primer. They both work well, and either one will allow you to topcoat with the paint of your chooice, be it oil, latex, or acrylic latex.

If you go this way, you might consider incorporating some sort of design in the headboard and/or foot board. To preserve the design from damage you could top coat the entire thing with Minwax Polycrylic. It's 'water clear' and non yellowing and very durable.
