We recently received an oak table kitchen table with inset tiles that I am told is "limed oak" or whitewashed. I would like to strip the wood and reapply a similar finish as it looks good with the tiles but needs to be "freshened up." Where can I learn about paint, as opposed to clear, finishes? We are very new at this!
Thanks, Brandi

Bob F, who moderates the painting forum immediately below this one on the main forum menu, will be glad to offer any help he can.
I always suggest a copy of Bob Flexner's book "Understanding Wood Fnishing". It covers The type of finish your talking about as well as many others, in plain, understandable English.
