Wondering how we should handle the carpet in the family room to a hallway that has hardwood. It is a wide opening (6 feet or so). Can I just use hand pressure to stretch it out, roll the edge over and then nail (or staple) it? Or should I use tac strip as well to hold it? Ps I do not want to use a threshold.

Thanks in advance,

Rappy

There is a metal strip that you can get will serve as the tack strip also .When its down take a block of wood and hammer on it to like close the metal over the edge of the rug some.

its in the hallway? better be tight, especially in the hallway.
Go to a Carpet suppply store, they have FAR more options than a Home Depot. Maybe a "Z Bar" for you? this gives the "turn and tack" method look without staples. Go look, you may find something nice.
