I have a 6 month old well. Depth of well is 468 ft. pump is 360 ft. Water flow was 19 GPM. Problem is the water never cleared up. I need to install a sediment filter of some type. Was thinking of setting up 3 tanks, as follows:
1) 10 x 54 structural tank, backwash control valve, and layering in a sediment filter media bed.
2) 10 x 54 Structural tank, backwash control valve, and layering in a sediment filter media bed.
3) A backwash Berm media filter tank for about 4 ppm Iron.
My thougts, ideas and reason for using 2 tanks for filtering out the muddy water is that it is pretty bad. Using a faucet that has not been used in a day produces very muddy water. Letting it run for a few min. brings it to cloudy, at best. I figured setting up the tanks in line. The firat would filter down to say 100 microns, the next down to about 20 microns, then following in line with the Berm unit, finally followed by an in line 10" sediment filter, filtering down to 5 microns. The first 2 filters would be set to backwash daily, the Birm unit maybe every 3 days.
Now for my question(s):
1) Will the above work?
2) What would the layers in each tank consist of, and how much?
3) Any better Ideas?
More info. I let the water run for 24 hours, the best was still cloudy (I would not consider drinking it).
Water tested as follows:
pH - 7.0
Iron - 4 ppm
Hard - 1 gr.
Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, and constructive critisism.
