I am hanging a light over our dining room table and I need to know the formula to figure out how high the bottom of the light should be above my table. I know it has something to do with the width of my table. Does anyone know the formula?

The only thing I could find after an exhaustive search were guidlines.
The light if a hanging pendant type light should hang 24" above the table.
Guests should not have to look around any lights/candles placed on the table.
If the table is glass a deffuser should be used to prevent glare.
I hope this helps as it was all I could find.
Keep watching this post as someone may come in with a correct formula.
Good luck and post back

Since there is likely some range of acceptable solutions, you might visit furniture or lighting stores and measure something you like (if they have a room all set up). Or perhaps measure something you like at a friend's house.
