I was looking at my boiler furnace and noticed a garden hose spigot above the taco 007 circulating pump on the same pipe. I am wondering what is it for and how and when do I use it? and does the cool water return pipe or the outgoing hot water pipe belong on the circulating pump? I have a weil mclain brand oil furnace.and I do have baseboard type heaters with the fins.

The drain C*** or Valve is there so you can drain it if you have to . like if you have to work on it some where in the home . Or let water out if the auto fill puts to much in. Work on the pump.
They are putting the pumps on one side or the other now it seems.
Oil fired, for sure have it serviced each year. New nozzle filter air and draft set you will save $$$ in the long run
