I'm planning to finish my bsmt (est 2000 sq ft) w/ 9' ceiling height. While drywalling the ceiling provides a more "finished" look, I like the advantages offered by using ceiling tiles.

BUT...

When I was a kid, our bsmt had the old ceiling tiles that started to color yellow and warp and I definately don't want that.

Have there been improvements to ceiling tile product? If so can you recommend a specific product to use? What about the cost vs. drywall ceiling?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated in advance.

Don't know a lot about ceiling tiles but think a lot of the problem was because of temperature and humidity control, or lack of. I prefer tiles over any permanent covering because if you have a leak, you have access without tearing things up. One of the members here is putting up beadboard with plated screws and the fancy washers (for looks) and will be able to remove them in case of a leak. Just a thought.
