I just needed to 'vent' here for a moment..and share some insight to others for the future.
After installing our new flooring in our house, including our 'guest bathroom' (more for our use of the toilet and for guests), I replaced the toilet with a new 'handicap' toilet....17" up here in BC (tho 18" seems to be norm in the US). After replaceing the 1st tank...due to a crack, now on the 2nd..and after about 4 months, we noticed a small 'puddle' of water appearing on the toilet, where the tank meets the bowl. At 1st we thought we spilled some water there...but after a couple of weeks of watching the area, it didnt subside. So I decided to pull the tank..and try the Moen/Master Plumber (brand) tank-bowl replacement kit.
Well that didnt work, because of the minimal clearance of the tank-bowl, in relation to their 'repair' kit.
So I pulled the tank and then noticed that there were 2 cracks on either side of the bolts to the tank... and that the tank was not truely 'flat' at its base. So Im thinking, that its quite possible that that imperfection will have an end result has to how the 'tank' sits to the bowl.
So I pull the bowl and bring it down to my plumber supply outlet...and show them that the tank does not, nor will, sit flush and even with the bowl.
So fortunately, they understud what I was getting at....and pulled another out from their supply. I noticed that their 'new' one looks 'IFFY', 'coz of a potential crack in the works..or poor forming/casting. No Thanks..
After 2 replacements, I found a tank that looks fairly flat at its base and no signs of 'inferior' casting...and decided to go with that one.
Its been 4 days now...and so far... so good.
.
Just a word of precausion to those needing to replace their toilet....- Take the time to inspect what youre buying. One would think that 'all is ok'..when buying a 'named' brand/mfgr's front.. but ya never know.
.
On a side note... I think the Moen kit (tank-to- bowl) is great, so long as it works for your set-up. That system uses washers on the inside and outside of the tank..so the tank-bowl bolts are sealed before you install the tank to the bowl. I think that system works the best...so long as it fits your existing set up.
.
Anyway....So much for NAFTA.
I need a shot of taquila!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could be just a bad batch of toilets/tanks. It's known to happen.
