Hi -
I just purchased Accolade Brazillian Cherry for my kitchen. However, i noticed that the "ends" of the 3 1/2" wide base molding ARE NOT FINISHED IN THE BRAZILLIAN CHERRY FINISH. It looks like MDF or some other similar mish-mash. I know Pergo is 100% fake, but why wouldn't they finish the ends of the molding.
My question is, how would I go about finishing this job with 3 or 4 whitish ends looking out at the person who is looking into the kitchen? I need to come up with a solution to finish the ends. Also, what about marrying up pergo molding to other molding? Do I need some kind of transition piece to break up the moldings?
Thanks in advance!!

They do not finish the ends because you would have to cut them to join them together, and people would complain about that too.
You can mitre a piece so it goes into the wall, or maybe Pergo sells sticker type things to match the cherry, and you can put it on the side.

Cut a return, and glue it inplace. That is the only way with matched MDF moldings.

Sorry, I'm afraid I don't know what a "return" is...Could you please explain?

About the "return". Instead of having the modling be straight cut (90° to the wall), you will cut the molding 45° to the wall. Then you will cut a tiny piece that will go from the 45° angle to the wall. The length of this piece is the almost the widof of the molding and looks like a triangle.
This is the best I can represent how this would look from the top.
