My house has a low (7'2") concrete ceiling in the basement. I'm interested in a CHEAP, good looking way to refinish it. I've toyed around with the idea of bead board but don't know how well it will stay up. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

gerry058,
If the ceiling is dry, have you thought about a textured ceiling?
Prime it and the spray on! White would brighten it up, adheres well, extremely very low cost and can be done very fast. Easy DIY project. Compressor and hopper are rentable items. If you want to make it look cool, like we did in the 70's, add gold or silver sparkles.
I would not do wood as this would require some help. You could use tapcon screws but they will show, even painted it will show. Adding any furing strips to this would be lowering the ceiling. With a low ceiling, blown might be better.
Just a thought
