Searched this to no avail.... I had this hopper upside down pouring HOT water into the bottom to clear it out. I sense that junk would only stick like that if the surface was damaged (no longer glossy smooth) by a previous snake sent up to the top curve.. no? Seems that cheaper toilets have a "more narrow throat" so everything moves slower and has a tighter bend at the top. Can anyone comment from experience with general toilet design? I did read about amer std and gnl higher quality so thanks.... That is the direction I will go (esp in a rental).

The cheaper toilets do not have porcelain all the way through the trap area. That makes them rough and things don't flow as smoothly. Go with a better grade toilet and save the hassle.

Agree with all comments. But, be aware that there are now some brands and models of low-consumption toilets which are significantly better that the rest of the field. They are more expensive, but if flush perfoemance is important, they are worth the money. An internet search for toilet flush should get you to any of the sites where comparison testing is described.

You betcha that I'll be inspecting any "new toilet purchase" for size of throat, coating extent and Throat alignment with the bottom exit. I can't believe mine isn't even aligned to dump straight out of the throat to the wax ring. Can't believe that they don't even coat em throughout. Get what you pay for I guess..... Thanks again. R7
