Is there a sticky that talks about wanter pressure? If not, can someone please write something up and get it posted as a sticky?

Now here's the problem/question.

I just moved into a new constructed home and the neighbor just told me my water pressure is much better then his. Sure enough, when I openned the spiket (sp?) at his place, his pressure was not nearly as good as mine.

We are both on well and have the same setup, space pressure tank, pump, etc. In fact both our wells were rated at 15gpm.

We don't have to prime the pump as I as told by the builder that our pumps push water. Basiclly I was told only pumps that pull water need to be primed.

At this point, I have to assume that his pressure tank is not set up properly, so can anyone post instructions on how to set/trouble shoot the pressure?

Thanks!!

lets start with the simple and get more complicated if that doesn't work. Near the tank, there should be a gauge. What does yours say? What does his say?

Pressure switch cut-off is adjustable in most cases, but we'll get to that if thats the problem. Post back your and your neighbor's pressure first.

By the way, the gallons per minute of the well, has nothing to do with the gallons of minute out of, or into, your tank. GPM of the well just means, if you pump more than that for very long (which you shouldn't as most pumps are either 7GPM or 10 GPM), your well will be "out of water", which is just to say your pump will be TEMPORARILY out of water, until the water table comes back up, which of course is BAD...dry, running pumps don't last very long.

Thanks for the feed back. I should be able to get the pressure numbers to post this weekend as I've been stuck in the office late into the evenings.

Thanks again!
