I am trying to apply stucco on a newly built garage. The garage has plywood exterior and I have installed the vapor barrier as well as the mesh screen. Can anyone offer advice as to what materials I need for stucco to be applied. So far I am not having any luck, I apply the stucco and it falls off.
Any advice would be appreciated.

It is important to mix the stucco with the correct about of water. The correct way to check this is to see if you can pick it up with a trowel and and slice it with another trowel. If it slices cleanly then the consitency is about right.

If there is too little water the stucco will not stick and will keep falling off. It does not take very much water to get the consistency wrong.

You can also try wetting the lath/building paper - this may help hold the first coat. It is normally recommended that the previous coat is wet before applying the next one.
