My shower is dripping and is very hard to turn off. I want to remove the handles to try and get at the problem. My problem is I can't figure out how the darn things come off. There is no visible screw or cap that I can get at, the only thing I can figure is there is what I would best describe as a tab on the handle that I can depress using a flathead screwdriver. Although depressing this does not seem to help me get it off ( I don't want to break it by pulling on it too hard). Does anyone have any suggestions of how I am supposed to remove the handles so I can see the valve stem and hopefully figure out the problem.

Thanks!

The cap should pop off by inserting a screwdriver at the side and prying on it. After turning off the water supply and removing the cap remove the screw in the end of the stem. Pull the handle off (may be tight). Remove the chrome cover that goes to the wall. ( may have to cut loose caulking). If you see a nut there, loosen it and slide the handle back on. Turn the handle to remove the stem. If it hits the nut then remove the nut.Stem should come out. Look at the washer on the end of the stem. It is probably torn or worn out. Replace the washer and reassemble. Good luck and post back with any questions.
