Hi all.
I have a Provectr treatment system (came w/house) which I am sure needs service. I have no manuals or information other than the service company's sticker on it. They are no longer in business.
The places I called never heard of a provectr. Im trying to gather information on the service required and media needed.
Its made by watersoft, now a part of amtrol. I have e-mailed them with no help so far. It seems all the product info I find (web) is in Canada. Not much to go on in the web sites. E-mailing has failed so far.

Provectr Mod AF 10 P
Serial 4 27 87

Thanks for any/all help

Their distribution is through pluming/pump supply houses. So call those in your area and ask for a name of someone that will service it.

Ed,

Someone is trying to sell me a Provectr unit, so let me know how you make out. Did the thing ever work for you?

Great news. Just home from work and sitting on the table was a brand new installation instruction manual from water soft. I guess the e-mail worked. the response was by snail mail.
Now I know how to do, what I need to do, but ... I just have to find the filter media. Its called multi blend.

026TB4U Never have a problem with iron, manganese or sulfur so I suppose that portion of the media is still intact and working. My problem now is getting the media. A portion of it is used to increase the ph and needs to be replenished every 6-12 months

Gary Believe it or not .. Im in the HVAC field and have been to quite a few plumbing supply houses in the last few weeks about this. Maybe I just caught the wrong guy on the wrong day :D

Ed, find a supplyhouse that carries Amtrol/Springsoft, they should be capable of getting you anything you need from them. Or get phone numbers and call them. Multi-blend is problably nothing more than common mixed bed mineral used in any turbidity filter. Most contains some calcite/georgia marble, garnets, birm and anthracite etc.. You'll do better going through a water treatment dealer than supplyhouses... but first get a water analysis done so you can tell them what the equipment is supposed to be treating.

The unit is for the removal of iron, manganese and sulfur. The local plumbing supply I visited today said " WOW, I didnt know amtrol made these things"
He looked at the manual I just received and made a call to amtrol. The media is a mix of birm and calcite. Figureing that the birm is still OK, I bought 1/2 cf of calcite. Will do the deed sometime this weekend then retest the H2O. Hopefully a softener wont be needed.

Next project?
Master bath and kitchen radiant heat with outdoor reset. That new Taco radiant mixing block "should" simplify things. The local supply is doing a piping schmatic for me from my heat load calculations. OR I could put up 300 or so ft of fence. Forget the fence, warm floors are more important.

Thanks for your help.

The provectr systems I have seen out there (Lancaster sells them) usually consists of a micronizer ,attached to the incoming well line, whiich draws in air using a venturi action. This will aerate H2S and also precipitate iron and manganese out of the water to allow it to be picked up by a filter. Usually a Fleck 5600 or maybe a Fleck 2510. A multi-blend usually consists of an Aggragate/Birm type media. I`ve also seen( ABC) ,Ag Birm Calcite. You can buy a multi blend already mixed or you could make your own. Depending on the Iron content they need to be rebed periodically. There is a vent tank that comes with it to remove the air being built up in the well tank from the air injection and is located after the well tank and before the filter. Heavy iron can dry up and cause a blockage in the pipes prior the filter from the well tank . I`ve seen unions installed to be able to periodically clean this piping. The calcite portion of the media will help raise the ph if that is one of your problems. I normally like to see, to correct ph problems, a dedicated calcite filter. The multi blend may not include enough calcite to raise the ph proper. It depends on your ph. Good Luck

I opened the media tank this weekend and ... nothing but the ag bed in there! Off to a "different" plumbing supply which, installs them and other treatment equipment.
"We" decided to go with 40% birm and 60% calcite. All seems well. Flushed and regenerated. Will do so again on Friday. Take the H2O for a test on Saturday. May end up with a softener after that. The water "feels" harder now ;)

Thanks to all for help and suggestions.
