View Full Version : Shower leaking

We have a second floor shower that is leaking onto the ceiling in our dining room. It's a stand alone shower next to a garden tub. First time this happened, the shower would fill up to your ankles with water. I cleared out some hair and other gunk and that did the trick. I cleaned it out occasionally ever since. But a few weeks ago it started to do it again. This time there was nothing noticeable in the shower (and it didn't fill up to the ankles). I tried a hook to get out any gunk, no luck. Tried a snake too with no luck. I did put some of the foaming drano but my guess is that's probably snake oil. That didn't do much either. I haven't tried a plunger, guess that's my next step. I believe it's a pan(?) drain. Any tips or tricks? Thanks!

jkn, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Try a drain product called Drain Care. It is an enzyme cleaner that clings to the clog and eats it. It takes overnight but works well. Sold at the BigBox stores, Ace, and Walmart. Good luck.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot. Will it have any affect with the Liquid Plumr foam I used?

Thanks!

The Liquid Plumber is probably long gone. I don't see a problem.
