 I have Luxair (York) heat pump that is only 4 years old. Last winter I had the indoor circuit board and 240 volt transformer replaced, and the out door circuit board replaced. As the cool weather started to set in this year and I set the thermostat for heat, the out door condenser fan will not stay on. As the heating cycle starts the fan will rotate for about two seconds and stop. The unit is then forced to run with aux heat. There is no “reset” button on the condenser fan motor. What is the problem? Is this possible the contactor?

If the compressor stays on then the fan should run. If you go back to cool does the fan run then. If not its the fan. On heat could be in the defrost board also. Does the compressor stop with the fan on heat??You have a lot of ifs here.
