I have a old cast iron boiler that was converted to natural gas. It has a
Economite conversion burner E20A.
The pilot light has gone out and I am trying to follow the directions but it still will not work. It has a igntion switch but I dont know if it is working. Can I just throw a match in the door where the piot light comes on to get the pilot light back on.

I think the reason it went out was because the door on the furnace above where the flame is came open.

Thanks

There is usually a button that has to be held down before the pilot is lit. You have to continue to hold the button down for about a minute until the valve heats up at which point it will stay on by itself. There should be directions somewhere near the valve explaining the exact relight sequence. If you are unsure or still have doubts about doing this you should have a professional look at it. Good luck.
