I want to cover my deck with a non slip rubber membrane. What should I use?

There's rubberized paint on membranes on the market, I've seen them, but never used any. Have used the nonskid deck paints, they have like a sand in them that provides the anti-slip factor, work pretty well.

I wouldn't use paint on a deck. You will have trouble down the road. If moisture gets under it will cause pealing. Be careful and read the instruction to see if it is really what you want

I, too, have used non-skid deck paints on two boat docks, which are continuously exposed to the weather. I purchased a good quality porch and floor paint, and added a non-skid product made by Rustoleum. It is not sand, and therefore stays suspended in the paint.

The docks have been painted, one for 3 years, and one for 5 years, and both have held up very well. No evidence of peeling.

I have used 'non-skid' deck paint on stairs in the past and have never had problems with peeling paint. The keys are to make sure the wood is properly prepped, that it is dry, and use a good quality paint. Get it from a paint store, not the paint dept. of a big box store. And it'll cost you more -- expect to pay about $30 a gal. for it.

There are a few companies that make a vinly covering it looks like a pool liner and is textured for non slip, I have Dura Deck on mine and it still looks good eight years later, its also waterproof I have a garage under my deck.
