Hi there. I also own a FA50. It is far from road worthy but I just hoon around our section with it.
Mine also bogs when it gets to about 25km/ph.
If you play around with the Idle time screw, you can get a bit more out of it.
I managed to get it to go a bit faster by putting it on its stand, and reving the living daylights out of it for a few minutes. I got back on and it and took it down the road(Not many cop cars around) and it went 40km/ph.
Is there anyone else there with a "Proper" way of fixing this?

It has been awhile since I worked on these, but I do remember that a lot of the small ATVs and cycles are factory set to restict upper end power (safety issues). To start you would first want to determain if it's bog is from too much gas or not enough (rich or lean). To do this have a new spark plug on hand. (not installed) Run the machine until it reaches full operating temperure, then carefully replace the plug with your new clean plug. Do not allow the engine to cool down. Start it and as quick as possible run it to the point of bogging for a little bit then shut it right down (do not allow it to idle or run slow after the bog) Pull the plug and examine it.
I am not familar with the FA50. Is this a 2 or 4 stroke engine? If 2 stroke, is the gas a premix or does it use oil injection?

The FA50 and FZ50 use an oil injection system. Just purchased one of the FA50 mopeds with 742 miles on it. Last summer I traded my FZ50 for a motor home! Miss that bike.

Number one step pull the exhaust pipe 98 percent have a restrictor inside the pipe up by the manifold . This is easy to limit rpm and takes no special modifying . It will be a metal piece of some sort you remove and we gained 20 mph on the moped and no more bogging noise like that all she has.
Be a little careful to not hold it wide open for extended period but the bike will actually work.
Good luck and let me know.
