Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me with a roofing problem that
I am having. I have several different leaks in my roof and I tried roofing cement around my pipes on the roof and used the roofing cement to tack down the shingles that I could left up and that still has not helped any. Is there any other thing that I could try before I call a roofer. I think the roof is only about 7 years old. I am not sure if I have to replace the whole roof or if I can try something else then roofing cement. Please help me if anyone knows what else I can do. Thank you.

Not sure just what you have there. Is this the first layer of shingles on the roof or do you have more???? can you find the leak inside the attic???? 7 years you should be ok yet.
Id try and pin down the leaks and work on them with the roof cement. If like it was a old roof Id say get the cold mop tar and mop it all over if you didnt want to put a new roof on it. But fine the leaks are it will get the to the wood up there and cost more for a new roof.

Hi Ed I am not sure if the roof has more then one layer of shingles on it or not. I tried to get in the attic and see where some of the leaks are coming from and I used the roof cement on a few of them but I can't get down far enough in the attic to get some of the leaks. I can't reach them because of the 2X4's. Do you know what I can do if I cant reach them? Thanks

dont need to reach them...roof tar goes on top. Look into the attic on a sunny day and note where the light comes in, in that area on top you'll probably notice something not right (shingles curled, broken or missing), then tar that area. Doesn't look great, but will stop leaks.
Whatever you do, do it soon. If it leaks a little in a rain storm, when snow sits on it and starts melting you'll be living in a pool :p

I have been up on my roof several times and I didn't see any shingles curled, broken or missing. I didn't see any type of holes it the roof either. I'am not sure what is going on but it's leaking somewhere just don't know where. I have been up on the roof many times using the roofing cement and it still hasn't helped.

If its ok for a black roof get the cold mop and put it over the roof. like said dont tar inside the attic just look.
Cant get down far enought in the attic??? sounds like the ice dams got you there on the shingles in the winter. Cold mop them now till you can get a new roof on.

Before you go and spread cold process or some type of emulsion all over your house (please don't do this!). Read below....
Asphalt mastic has a VERY LIMITED use on a shingle roof. It is a temporary repair at best. Steep sloped roofs rely on slope, overlap and interlacing of metal flashings to maintain there watershedding ability. Something is missing, or out of place, or the slope is too low.
First hint; just because the leak is showing op at the base of the slope, dosen't mean it is right above that point. Stand on that spot on the roof and look uphill, is there a pipe penetration, valley, chimney, wall transition directly upslope? If so concentrate your efforts there.
Second hint; Curled shingles usually don't leak.. also look for - butt edges of the shingles too close together from one row to the next? exposed nails?, A depression in the roof itself?,
If you are considering spreading an emulsion all over your roof...
STOP DON'T DO IT....
and please call a roofer. The more of that "snake oil" you spread around, the more it will cost you to fix it right next year.
Good Luck!

I do agree no black mop stuff. PLEASE
And dont get fool by that spray roof stuff, it seal so bad and all the moisture stays under it and crack
i would check for leaks around pipes, chimeney, flashing, expose nail head and roof hips water travel down hill so if the leak is at bottom does not mean it's there look higher
cheers
