I have a radiator gas furnace heating system in my house, which has an electric pump. Question = is the pump supposed to be on at all times?

Its all in how it is wired in. Most boiler burners go on and off with a control there on the boiler to keep the water at like 160o to 180o. When the tstat in the home calls for heat the pump turns on. But as I said its all in how is it wired there.
