I am almost ready to install my laminate flooring, but I was just wondering what type of blade I should use for my circular saw. I was looking at a 7 1/4 60 tooth carbide tipped blade. I can't find one that says "for laminate floors". The flooring (as you all know) is made of HDF. Thanks for the help!

unofficial unprofessional amateur advice: we used whatever the blade was that came with our circular saw and it worked perfectly fine. all the cut edges are hidden, so they don't need to be pretty, although ours seemed as clean cut as they could be. (we laid lam in our kitchen & dining room)
am i missing something? because i've seen this question asked before. is HDF diamond-hard compared to regular wood or something? our blade still seems sharp after all that cutting and it cut through the stuff like butta (butter)! what's the deal??

If it was a framing blade (comes with most quality saws) and it was used to cut large amounts of laminate then it would dull the heck out of the blade. I know this because my buddy did it before and the blade wouldn't even cut pine after. maybe your blade was a high tooth count? Anyways, I know I can't use the blade I have.

I used carbide 60 tooth. It worked excellent. However, it won't cut anything else. Be prepared to buy another blade for regular work. I keep the old one around to lend to friends who are doing laminate work. For some reason it works great for that but nothing else.
