My basment floor is all concrete except in one "room" (10 X11) that's about 1/8 of the basement. This is in a 1850's house in ct and there are no leak problems. Following several friend's advice, we've dug up about a foot of the dirt floor and placed a couple of horizontal jacks to prevent the bottom foundation stones from doing something dumb like caving in on us.....
We've considered hiring a concrete guy to finish the job but he quoted $600 for labor only to tap the floor, pour gravel, lay the plastic and pour the cement.
I need to get some advice on how I need to proceede if I am going to do it myself. I don't need a perfect floor, that room will just be used for storage. Thans!
