moving water heater next to the furnace. Can I put a "t" vent piece in the vent pipe above the furnace and vent both thru the same pipe thru the roof?

Don't think so. Both were designed to have a certain diameter discharge. So if you put two together you have undersized the vent line. Not safe and probably not allowable by code. Also, when one or the other units kicks on, it would pull a draft on the other. Would think this would continually blow out pilot lights. Check local code office for size of each vent pipe. Good luck.

thank you, makes perfect sense and, as alway's, code and safety first.
