I'm in the midst of laying a floating, engineered Mohawk hardwood on a concrete slab. Dining room went fine. When pulling up carpet in living room all is well until the last two feet in the front of the house.

All of a sudden the entire floor slopes down, almost a full inch over a 2 foot run, the entire width of the room, some 18'.

I guess I need to level it, but how? Please share any suggestions, pitfalls, warnings, etc.

Many, many thanks.

Jetta

Drag a straight edge, with some float mud in front. Keep a good plow going, while pushing down on the side you want to level to.

Let it dry and fill in where it is needed.

Let dry and proceed.

A few sleepless nights and $200 later I have a smooth floor. :D

I trekked over to the masonry dealer and was sold Thoro self-leveling underlayment.

This is my miracle product! 55lb bags mixed with 5.5 qts of water in a 5 gal pail and voila!, pour and walk away! This stuff saved my neck! I'm nominating it for a Nobel Peace Prize for saving my marriage.

Now onto the next problem, putting the piano back onto the floating floor. (see my other post from this morning (11/16)

Thanks!
