when I try to start the furnace the thermocouple lit for a few seconds and only the two fist burners lit for 5 seconds (it does it 3 or 4 times and then goes dead).A few times the 5 burnes turned on but only two cycles of 5 min each, and stop working ( I set my thermostat to 80 F but only reached to 73 F and is dead)Another question is what do you mean when you say shorting the terminal R and W.Is there any liquid I can use for cleaning the burners? :(

Is this a free standing pilot and it don't want to stay lit all times?

Or not all of the burners are not lighting up right away?

I would suggest to you that you call in a Pro and have them do a complet cleaning and checking of your system.. When was the last time you had it done??

Gas is NOTHING to mess with!

Sounds like a good cleaning is in order. You've probably got spider webs in the pilot crossover.

This can cause dangerous detenations.

Shorting R - W is to check and see if the stat is sending a signal to the furnace. If the furnace wasn't doing anything and you took the stat off the wall and put R & W together and the furnace then started you would know that the t-stat is bad. This don't sound like your problem though.

I followed your advice and I called a pro. He did the cleaning, and know the
furnace is working alright.

Thank you for your time and help.
