I recently finished adding picture-frame trim on the interior of my new windows. I put in jamb extensions and they all turned out fine.
The problem I'm having is with the sliding patio door. The new door is much deeper than the new windows and comes to within 3/4" or so (thickness of the drywall) of the interior wall. I can't add jamb extensions because there is no door frame to nail to since the the door is so thick.
I was thinking up just nailing a thin strip directly to the new trim to basically form a 90° corner. The only problem is that the thin strip wouldn't be attached to anything else (like framing). Would this just be too flimsy to hold up over time? Any suggestions? Thanks.
