Hello, I have replaced an existing light fixture in the hallway... for some reason, not knowing if it is really related issue or not... once I changed the fixture, the light switches in the 2 bedrooms would only work "at times"...all of the outlets in the rooms work, but the light switches themselves do not work now. I have tried tripping the breaker (and this would work at first a few times)... as well as making sure the light fixture is wired correctly. to boot... now the light fixture does not work either. any ideas? and do you really think these are related to each other? I think now, I am literally in the dark. thanks, carchris

Sounds like a loose connection. In the ceiling box where you installed the new light are there more wires than just 1 black, 1 white, and 1 bare or green wire? If so then one or more of the other connections could be loose. Turn off the circuit breaker for this circuit and check for loose connections in the ceiling box. You should probably remove the wire nuts and twist the wires together with a pair of pliers and reinstall the wire nut.

The original poster didn't get an answer within an hour of his post and has never come back since. He didn't even see your first response. Happens a lot. He probably lost the web address.
