I need to put a pair of electric heaters in my finished basement. Im looking at two 1500 watt 8' 220 volt units. the only difference is straigh electric at $55 / unit or electric / hydronic at $225.00.
The basement is an entertainment / pool table room only so its not used all the time.
Is there any real benefit to the hydronic heater or should I go with the straight electric.

Your not down there all the time. Id go for just the electric heat baseboard is all at $55. Why didnt you take it off what you have now for heat?

I wasn't sure it I had capacity to do so. I currently have a Heil forced air system. Its a 131,000 btu unit for a 2300 sq ft home. The basement adds about 900 sq feet, but I'm only looking to heat the pool table / media room
32*13.5. and only looking to heat it when I'm down there.
I was concerned if I put in some take off's that it would rob air from the rest of the house. As when the basement is not in use there is not way to totally shut the registers.
What do you think.

I dont see why that size furnace wont carry the basement also. Any heat let out down there is still in the home and will go to the floors above. I take it that the walls down there have insulation in them. So four 6" round to the outside wall. 12 " off put a 2 1/4" X 12"- 90o boot blowing down with a 2 1/4"X 12" register You can close them off when your not down there. A small cold air return in the cold air drop. So its before the filter.
