I have quotes from two roofers;

one is for a Pabco product and the other is for a Malarkey product.

Is one better than the other?

It is really more a matter of personal preference. All US manufacturers must pass or conform to ASTM (American Socity for Testing and Materials) standards for their products. Therefor they are all fairly equal in performance.
Warranty periods 30, 40, 50 etc. will give you a hint as to the durability difference between grades.

I have never heard of Pabco, must be a regional product.
Malarkey's premium shingle offers a "Impact Resistant" designation, which can save you money on some homeowners insurance policies. Especially in hail prone areas.

Pabco is a reputable brand in the West. Made by Pacific Coast Building Products (Pacific Supply). Their plant seems to always be sold out, so availability can be a concern.
